Master’s Programmes

Master’s programmes offer advanced academic education, allowing students to deepen their specialist knowledge and further develop their research and analytical skills. Applicants must hold a Bachelor’s degree, an engineering degree, a Master’s degree, or an equivalent qualification.

With a flexible, interdisciplinary approach, Master’s programmes give students the opportunity to broaden their horizons and shape their own academic path. Master’s programmes at the Faculty of “Artes Liberales” last two years and lead to a Master’s degree. They are an excellent choice for those wishing to gain advanced qualifications valued in the cultural, education, media, and international sectors, or to continue with an academic career.

Artes Liberales (Liberal Arts)

The Master’s programme in Artes Liberales is an interdisciplinary degree designed for graduates of both interdisciplinary and traditional Bachelor’s programmes. It offers the opportunity to gain broad knowledge across the humanities, social sciences, and natural sciences within one of four study paths.

Students have considerable freedom to shape their own curriculum, with more than two-thirds of the programme consisting of elective courses.

Interdisciplinary Studies on Social Change: Mediterranean and Other European Borderlands

The programme offers an interdisciplinary approach to sociocultural issues, social change and challenges of the modern world, including global and local conflicts, migrations, climate change, demographic crises, or economic inequalities. It provides students with a variety of research methods in humanities and social sciences, giving insights into political systems, contemporary culture, social movements, borderland societies, cultural and linguistic diversity. Apart from broad humanistic knowledge and expertise in the historical and contemporary social change, the programme offers a chance to develop practical competence in intercultural communication, collecting and processing data, as well as planning and conducting research.

Mediterranean Studies – Cultural Studies

Master’s programme is designed for active, curious, and open-minded students who want to explore the Mediterranean region in all its richness—from antiquity to the present day, and from art, literature, music, and cinema to cuisine, migration, and today’s most pressing conflicts.

The programme is offered jointly with the Faculty of Asian and African Cultures of the University of Warsaw, providing an interdisciplinary perspective on the Mediterranean world. It covers a wide range of cultural and regional contexts, including the Arab and Muslim world, the Romance and Iberian traditions, the Balkans, North Africa, and the Jewish diaspora.

The programme’s strengths include a modern curriculum, innovative teaching methods, workshops organised in cooperation with cultural institutions, and an extensive language programme taught by native speakers.

Migration Studies and New Societies

Migration Studies and New Societies is an innovative interdisciplinary Master’s programme that combines political science and public administration, sociology, and the humanities. The programme focuses on social change driven by migration and is offered jointly by the University of Milan, Charles University in Prague, and the University of Warsaw.

Its international character is reflected in the study structure, with students spending at least one semester at each of the three partner universities. Graduates receive a joint degree awarded by all participating institutions.

The programme is delivered in cooperation with the Centre of Migration Research at the University of Warsaw.
