Bachelor’s Programmes

Bachelor’s programmes provide a solid foundation of theoretical knowledge and practical skills essential for further professional and personal development. Through an interdisciplinary approach, students gain expertise in their chosen field while developing critical thinking, creativity, and the ability to make independent decisions.

Bachelor’s programmes at the Faculty of “Artes Liberales” last three years and lead to a Bachelor’s degree. Graduates are well prepared to continue their education in Master’s programmes or to pursue careers in cultural institutions, education, the media, or the non-governmental sector.

Anthropozoology – Interdisciplinary Studies in Natural Sciences, Humanities and Social Sciences

A unique interdisciplinary degree programme combining the natural sciences (biology), social sciences (psychology, sociology, and law), and the humanities (philosophy, cultural studies, literary studies, history, and art history).

The programme explores relationships between humans and animals from both historical and contemporary perspectives. Students gain knowledge of animal biology and psychology, as well as the ethical, legal, and cultural dimensions of human-animal relations and the issues surrounding animal welfare.

In addition to theoretical courses, the programme includes field trips and professional placements, for example at zoos, animal shelters, and animal welfare organisations.

Artes Liberales (Liberal Arts)

The Artes Liberales programme is interdisciplinary by design, bringing together knowledge and methods from different academic fields. Rather than focusing on a narrow specialisation, it emphasises broad intellectual development and transferable skills. The programme follows a model inspired primarily by the liberal arts colleges of the United States, offering an education designed to meet the challenges of today’s world.

Its guiding principle is the conscious crossing of disciplinary boundaries by offering courses that combine the humanities, social sciences, and natural sciences. Students have considerable freedom to design their own study programme by choosing courses that reflect their interests and academic goals.

The programme aims to educate well-rounded, critically minded, and adaptable graduates who are prepared to thrive in a rapidly changing world.

Mediterranean Studies – Cultural Studies

Mediterranean Studies is designed for curious minds who want to explore the Mediterranean region as a space where diverse cultures, religions, literatures, and traditions meet and intertwine.

Built around its core course, THE MEDITERRANEAN – HISTORY, REGIONS, ISSUES, this modern curriculum addresses the challenges of today’s world. Among its offerings are courses dedicated to non-European Mediterranean cultures, taught in collaboration with experts from the Faculty of Asian and African Cultures.

Innovative teaching methods bring together cultural, literary, and historical perspectives. A major strength of the program is also its wide range of Mediterranean language courses.

Modern Greek Studies

Modern Greek Studies is designed for students who see language as a gateway to understanding other cultures. The programme combines practical language instruction with courses in Modern Greek grammar and conversation, as well as classes on the history of Greece, Modern Greek culture, and literature from Late Antiquity to the present day.

The programme develops students’ language, analytical, and interpretive skills while preparing them for independent work with texts and the study of contemporary Greek culture.
